Steve Davis, of Sunheart Metalworks, has collaborated with Lorrie Lane to mount an exhibition at Lowe Mill in Huntsville. Titled “Big Heads, Small Faces,” it features Steve’s large sculptures of inspiration people and Lorrie’s small acrylic pieces.
Steve intends that his “Big Heads” will inspire the viewer to consider and reflect upon persons that are meaningful to them. The heads are larger than life and the possibilities can become endless as they look back at you. The forged and fabricated sculptures are over five feet tall and represent

The inspiration for this series of ‘small faces’ came about accidentally. As an oil painter I rarely use acrylic paint, but I needed to practice with this medium in preparation for a class I offered through another local art center. Using black acrylic paint on prepared watercolor paper, a set of individual and evocative faces began to emerge.

Metal artist Steve Davis has fashioned a large head in honor of each of these figures.






Come see Steve Davis’s latest creations in the Sunheart Garden–featuring Indigo Nude Descending and big metal heads of Nick Saban, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, George Floyd, and Greta Thunberg.
Art in the Morning will be on the first Saturday of each month, 9 am to 1 pm–starting this coming Saturday, May 5th.
But, of course, Steve is in his shop banging away most days and happy to receive visitors about anytime. Mornings are best, by chance or appointment.
